Newsarmenia.ru informs that artistic director and conductor of State Academic Choir of Armenia Hovhannes Chekijyan was awarded the prize “Commonwealth Stars” in the field of culture and art. The 5th ceremony of award took place on April 17, in the hall after Beethoven of the Bolshoi Theatre. The prize “Commonwealth Stars” was established by the Humanitarian Cooperation Council of the CIS on May 21, 2009 in Astana. “Commonwealth Stars” is awarded for the contributions in the spheres of science, culture and art. Alexandra Pakhmutova, Nikolay Dobronravov, Vladimir Spivakov, Jivan Gasparyan were also awarded “Commonwealth Stars” in previous years.
