 Russian «ITAR-TASS» news agency  informs that the Day of Armenian Alphabet was celebrated in the capital of Russia on November 26. It gave the Muscovites a chance to learn more about the Armenian ancient culture. In the frames of the Day of Armenian Alphabet the manuscripts of  Matenadaran (Institute of Ancient Manuscripts after M. Mashtots) were exhibited in Moscow, during which the guests of the event got acquainted with St. Mesrop Mashtots.

«This an important holiday for the Armenian nation. In this way we introduce the history of the Armenian Alphabet, with the help of which  many valuable manuscripts reached to us. Thus, we show the richness of our culture»,-said the president of the Union of Armenians in Russia Ara Abrahamyan.

In the frames of the Day of Armenian Alpahabet a  film was shown about Mesrop Mashtots. The event was accompanied with a concert. Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan  and members of the Moscow Government  were  present at the event dedicated to the Day of Armenian Alphabet.

According to Ara Abrahamyan, the Armenian community of Russia has about 2,5 million Armenians, in Moscow there are more than 600 thousand Armenians.

The Day of the Armenian Alphabet   was organized  in  the frames of Yerevan Days in Moscow, the latter will take place from November 26 up to November 29.

In the frames of Yerevan days in Moscow  various events will be organized, such as, Moscow-Yerevan Youth sport competition, tours of Russian Dramatic Theater after K.S. Stanislavski  of Yerevan, wine tasting of Armenian wines, the exhibition of books «My eternal Armenia» in  Central Universal Academic Library after N. Nekrasov, businnes forum,  as well as the exhibition «Armenian motives» will be organized in the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, etc.

A program of cooperation will be signed between executive authorities  of Yerevan and Moscow.
