Terlemezyan Panos (11.3.1865, Van-30.4.1941, Yerevan) Armenian artist. People's Artist of Armenian SSR (1935). He received his primary education at Van Central college (1881-86), then he studied at Art Society School in Saint-Petersburg (1835-97), and at Académie Julian (1899-1904).
Terlemezyan returned to Yerevan in 1928. He drew sketches, etc. (“Tatev Monastery”, “Kapan Copper-smeltery”, “Panorama of Goris” (1929), “Dzoraget” (1930), etc.). Terlemezyan contributed to the development of realistic traditions of Armenian portrait painting (he painted the portraits of Komitas, G. Bashinjaghyan, A. Isahakyan, Andranik, S. Tehleryan, A. Chopanyan, etc.). The main characteristics of Terlemezyan’s Armenian landscapes were lyricism, fine colours and the freshness of the painting. All his pictures are kept in the National Gallery of Armenia. Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts was named after Terlemezyan (1938).
