SARGSYAN SOS: Was born on 24.10.1929 in Stepanavan, and died on 26.09.2013 in Yerevan. Armenian actor, popular artist of RA (1972), USSR (1986), Professor (2003). He studied at Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre (1954). Later Sos Sargsyan began to perform at the Sundukyan State Academic Theatre of Yerevan (1954-1991), he founded Hamazgayin (Pan-National) Theater. From 1992 he taught at Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema: become the rector, 1988-2005, and then the Chairman of the Board since 2005). Sos Sargsyan was one of those actors who reached the inner impersonation without theatrical external vivid emphasis and emotions. 

He performed various roles in theater, such as Artashes (“Last cloves” by G. Ter-Grigoryan, 1985), Zimzimov (“Pepo” by G. Sundukyan, 1966), Don Quixote (“Don Quixote” by Bulgakov, 1968), Tybalt, Iago, Lear (“Romeo and Juliet”, 1964, “Othello”, 1969, “King Lear”, 1997 by Shakespeare), Vardan Adamyan (“Crossroad” by Zh. Harutyunyan, 1977, Armenian SSR state prize in 1979), Matsak (“Hatsavan” by N. Zaryan, 1980), Mayor (“Mayor of "Sanità" alley” by Eduardo De Filippo, 1991, director-Sos Sargsyan), etc.

Sos Sargsyan performed various roles in cinema as well, such as Mkrtich (“Triangle”, Armenian SSR state prize, 1975), investigator (“We and Our Mountains”), Zambakhov (“Khatabala”), Nahapet (“Nahapet”), Dzori Miro (“Dzori Miro”), the narrator (“Matenadaran”, Armenian SSR state prize, 1988).

He went on tours to Lebanon, Syria, USA, etc. Sos Sargsyan was awarded RA Mesrop Mashtots medal (1996), St. Sahak-Mesrop medals of Armenian church, Mkhitar Gosh medal of NKR (2001). He was honorary citizen of Yerevan (2000). Sos Sargsyan was USSR deputy (1989-1991).
