KHACHVANKYAN Karp (Karapet) (23.1.1923, Akhaltskha – 29.11.1998, Yerevan), Armenian actor and director. People's Artist of Armenia (1967). Khachvankyan studied at Actor's school of Tbilisi film studio (1941-1944).
From 1944 he worked in Theatre of Musical Comedy of Yerevan (artistic director from 1984-1988). He played comical and musical roles such as Tonino, Dzanetto («The two Venetian twins» by Carlo Goldoni), Aldermo («The dancing master» by Lope de Vega), Macheath («The threepenny opera» by Bertolt Brecht), Suren («Big wedding» by A. Papayan), Theodoros («Liar wanted» by Dimitris Psathas), Julikyan («Oh the nerves, the nerves» by G. Ter-Grigoryan), Knyaz («Taxi, taxi» by Zh. Ananyan), etc.
He was in the films too, such as «For the sake of honor» (1956), «Road to the Stage» (1963). He was awarded St. Mesrop Mashtots medal (1998).
